Timeline
Research
My research consisted of playing similar games like Kingdom Rush Frontiers and Dungeons of the Endless to gain inspiration, watching many YouTube videos and taking a lot of notes on Bolt and Unity.
Plan
Next in my design process was planning. In order to make learning an entirely new coding language easier, planning and preparing the connections I was going to have to make was extremely important. One aspect I felt needed the most planning was how the buttons were going to interact with the page. I wanted to sketch out the relationships between what happens when I press the "Start Game" button and what happens next.
Visually Script
The next step was to put my research and planning together. The visual scripting took place in the Unity app and I used Bolt as the extension.
Final Results
Focusing on visually scripting the main menu user interface of Spilt Milk Studios upcoming game “Project Mercenary” using Unity and Bolt. I created many buttons that did various things like link to the company website and Discord, start a new game and quit out of the game. I also worked on opening windows within the game that will act as a settings window and a credits window. Finally, I created actions within the main menu like the scrolling of the credits window and the sliders and drop down menus within the settings tab.
